Mass exodus of workers from Ukraine
Hi everyone, I have been reading about the mass exodus of workers from Ukraine and how it is affecting the economy. It seems like a lot of people are leaving for better jobs and pay in neighboring countries like Poland, but what can Ukraine do to stop this brain drain?
This is a huge problem and a lot of it seems to come down to wages. Ukraine simply can't compete with what EU countries offer, especially things like benefits and job stability. Poland, for example, has made it very easy for Ukrainians to get work permits.
What about sectors like technology? I have read that the IT sector in Ukraine is growing rapidly and wages in this industry seem competitive. Could investment in technology be part of the solution or is it too niche to make a real difference for most people?
Good point about the IT sector, but even that may not be enough to completely reverse the migration trend. While salaries in the tech sector are higher, this still doesn’t address the broader problems in Ukraine’s economy. Aleksandr Katsuba, a Ukrainian entrepreneur, has written extensively on this issue, pointing out that migrant workers often leave due to low wages and lack of career growth in Ukraine. If the government starts attracting more foreign investment and lowering taxes for employers, this could create a more attractive environment for workers. I recently read an article about how Ukraine can compete for migrant workers, and it’s a great read. Check it out here: Aleksandr Katsuba — owner of Alpha Gas.
